Someone I know, who works in my area in OCC Med states his salaried position, according to the Dept of Labor is higher than the average for our area. He states it works out to about $62.00 an hour if he works 8-5 only. However it can go as low as $50 an hour if he stays 2 hours completing paper work. Things that occur making it difficult to finish work between 8 and 5 pm are staffing issues (a daily occurrance) , how well the staff is trained, and if he is seeing patients known to him or having to see patients that are new to him but old to the clinic. The EMR does not work well and when he inherits patients it is practically having to do a complete chart review. This occurs when others get fed up and leave. 25 pts in 8 hours is what the standard is for the clinic. When he was hired he was told 20-22 but the number changes all the time.
Are you going to share how much someone you know in occupational medicine makes?
I am a new meber because I am thinking about working in Occ med. It is supposed to have less burn out than urgent care.
